Who doesn’t follow you back on Instagram? Check it without your password
Most “unfollower” apps ask you to log in with your Instagram password, which is a risk to your account. Instagram’s own data export already lists everyone you follow and everyone who follows you. ExportDecode compares the two lists locally.
Already have the export? Drop the ZIP, or followers_1.json and following.json together.
How to get your followers and following files
- In Instagram go to Settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Export your information, or open the Accounts Center export page.
- Choose Create export, select your profile and Export to device.
- Choose Customize information and select only Followers and following.
- Set the date range to All time and the format to JSON (HTML is the default), then start the export.
- Instagram emails you when it is ready. Download the ZIP; the files are in
connections/followers_and_following. - Drop the ZIP into the checker, or select
followers_1.jsonandfollowing.jsontogether. Keep the original file names.
Menus move around. Instagram changes these screens often. If a label differs, search Settings for “Export your information”.
What ExportDecode shows you
- Accounts you follow that don’t follow you back, newest follows first
- Followers you don’t follow back, and mutual follows
- A profile link for each account so you can double-check
- CSV exports of each list
Limits worth knowing
- The result is a snapshot from the day you exported.
- Private, renamed or deactivated accounts, or people who changed recently, can look like non-followers. Check a profile before you act.
- ExportDecode cannot follow or unfollow anyone. It only reads two files.
Questions
Why not just use an unfollower app?
Many ask for your login. Handing over credentials, or automating actions, can get an account restricted or compromised. The export route needs neither.
Is my follower list uploaded?
No. Both files are read in your browser tab and never sent anywhere. See the privacy walkthrough.
